“A team of scientists aboard the International Space Station discover a rapidly evolving life form, that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth.”

The alien in space movie is not new, many are failures, but others have become staples of the genre. Life is part of the latter. The premise of the film is about a team of scientists who have discovered life on Mars. At first, the creature is docile, but when provoked, the alien has entered monster territory, if only for its desire to survive. The problem is it doesn’t know when to stop feeding, creating a being that is incredibly dangerous. What makes it even more dangerous is how smart it is. It evolves, and with its evolution, it grows bigger. It’s a sinister being and the writers knew how to develop the creature, its needs and everything that made it dangerous.

Flash Film Review: ‘John Wick’, ‘Nightcrawler’ & ‘Book of Life

Okay so I bet you’re wondering what is going on here.  Well I have fallen way behind in my writing.  I sort of got into a funk with a lot of everything.  I’m still trying to figure out the cover design for my next novel and I’m editing it as well and I’m reading and writing but then I want to be lazy and play Kingdom Hearts.  So I’m just trying to get myself out of this funk that I’m in, so here we are! Emily Blunt Joining Johnny Depp In Fairy Tale Musical Into The Woods

By: Eric Eisenberg

Into_the_Woods_37585Director Rob Marshall is in the midst of assembling one of the best ensemble casts we’ve seen in a long time for the upcoming adaptation of the fairy tale musical Into The Woods. In late April we learned that the director would be using the project to reteam with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides star Johnny Depp as well as Meryl Streep, but in the past few weeks we’ve also learned that Tony Award -winning British actor James Corden and both Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhall are attached to the project. But the casting process is likely far from over, and today the pic is wrangling to get yet another talented name to sign on the dotted line.

Emily Blunt, who most recently appeared alongside Colin Firth in the dramedy Arthur Newman, is now in final talks to join the cast of Into The Woods, according to Variety. Based on the 1987 Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim, the movie centers on a childless baker and his wife who go on the hunt for a witch that put a curse on their family. During their trip they run into many of the most famous fairy tale characters of all time, including Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood. The British actress will be playing the baker’s wife, the female lead, in the movie.

While it seems that Blunt won’t be featured any more on the big screen this year, she has a solid 2014 slate ahead. She’s completed work on Doug Liman’s sci-fi action film All You Need Is Kill, and is currently getting set to star in Your Voice In My Head with Stanley Tucci.

Jake Gyllenhaal And Rene Russo To Star In Crime Thriller Nightcrawler

By:  Eric Eisenberg

Nightcrawler_37194Jake Gyllenhaal dabbled in the world of crime journalism when he starred as cartoonist Robert Graysmith in David Fincher’s brilliant 2007 crime thriller Zodiac, and today we have learned that he is ready to make his way back. Variety is reporting that the Oscar-nominated actor and Rene Russo have both signed on to star in the new indie thriller Nightcrawler.

The film will be the directorial debut of Dan Gilroy, who will also be writing the script. The filmmaker is best known for his work as a screenwriter, previously penning movies like The Bourne Legacy, Tarsem Singh‘s The Fall and Two For The Money. His brother Tony Gilroy, with whom he wrote the last Bourne movie, will be serving as a producer on the new project.

While details about the plot of Nightcrawler are slim, the trade says that it follows “a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism.” It’s not specified what roles either actor will play, though presumably Gyllenhaal will be starring in the lead role.

Russo will next be seen reprising her role as Frigga in the upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World (which released its first trailer earlier this week). Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, is currently filming the Denis Villeneuve-directed thriller Prisoners, which has him playing a detective searching for a missing girl while also being forced to go head-to-head with the girl’s father (Hugh Jackman), who doesn’t believe that he is working hard enough on the case. The film will be in theaters on September 20th.

Paul Dano Joins Hugh Jackman And Jake Gyllenhaal In Prisoners

By: Eric Eisenberg

paul_dano_33423Paul Dano is moving from the world of time-travel hitmen to a story of vigilante justice. The actor, who very recently appeared alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Jeff Daniels in Rian Johnson’s Looper, has signed on for a part in Prisoners the new film from director Denis Villeneuve. Based on a script by Aaron Guzikowski, the plot follows a man who discovers that his daughter and best friend have been kidnapped. When the cops are unable to find them, he decides to take the law into his own hands, running into conflict with the “big-city detective” who has been on the cas

Variety, which reported the new casting news, confirms that the film will also star Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo. Villeneuve is best known for helming the 2010 film Incendies and this past summer wrapped production on the thriller An Enemy (which also starred Gyllenhaal). The trade says that the movie is aiming to start production in early 2013, quite possibly to avoid the production of The Wolverine, which still has Jackman’s schedule tied up. It will be released sometime in fall 2013 by Alcon Entertainment.

Beyond Looper Dano has had a busy year, starring in movies such as Ruby Sparks, Being Flynn, and For Ellen. This summer he was cast in Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave, alongside Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Garret Dillahunt and Michael K. Williams. It’s being produced by New Regency, Plan B and River Road, and has already made it to post-production.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s An Enemy Adds Melanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon, & Isabella Rossellini

By: Kristy Puchko

Isabella_Rossellini_30911Last year Jake Gyllenhaal showed us a more mind-bending side to the thriller genre with Duncan Jones’ time-travel mystery Source Code, and next he’ll tackle a tale of doppelgangers with Denis Villeneuve’s An Enemy. Based on the José Saramago book inspired by the Fyodor Dostoevsky novella The Double, the film will star Gyllenhaal as a history teacher whose life is thrown off the rails when he discovers a man that appears to be his exact double physically, living nearby. With a knack for intensity and an everyman quality, Gyllenhaal is a solid base on which to build the cast, and Deadline reports Villeneuve is bringing in some international stars to add even more panache to his ensemble.

Isabella Rossellini (Keyhole), Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds) and Sarah Gadon (Cosmopolis) have all signed on to play supporting roles in the feature, though no specifics on their parts have been released. However, we do know that Gyllenhaal’s history teacher has a serious girlfriend, and his double a pregnant wife, which will likely be the roles of the latter two actresses. Regardless of the particulars, this casting gives some insight into what Villeneuve has in store with An Enemy, for while the plotline seems like something out of an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, the celebrated Incedies director has selected three actresses who have shown skills with surrealist efforts. Basically, their casting is a strong indicator that despite the dull title, An Enemy is primed to be something certainly mind-bending and potentially spectacular.

An Enemy goes into production on Toronto next week, and expected to open in Canada in 2013.

Source Code

Source CodeGreat movie.  Star Jake Gyllenhaal, plays Captain Colter Stevens who is in a program called the Source Code that sends his consciousness to the body of someone who was alive during 8 minutes before a train bombing.  His task is to find the bomber.  But of course there is more to it than that as he soon discovers.

This movie was just awesome.  My mom is a big science thus making me one too and well this movie involves science only it doesn’t warp it for it’s own purposes, it uses it correctly.  I cannot find fault with this movie.  The story line was clear and perceptive and completely unique.  The acting was phenomenal on all parts.  And the special effects where amazing.  Jake Gyllenhaal has grown so much since Bubble Boy and has proven that he is such a versatile actor.  This movie was great and like I said before, I can find no fault.  I give this movie a 4 Star Rating and an “A” grade.
