War of the Houses
A lot of crazy stuff went down here. The house of Secrets and the house of Mystery have taken physical form and are toying and messing with the Justice League Dark. There is so much mayhem and madness going around here as the House of Secrets wreaks havoc for the team. This issue set the premise for what’s going on in the Justice League Dark comics at the moment. Continue reading Week 45 2014 | Part 3 | Comic Reviews→
Red Lanterns #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 22, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $2.99)
Godhead Act I | Part V: God is Red
I miss Dex-Starr. He was a good kitty, and he had better be okay. But I digress, seeing as he’s not in here I felt the need to express my feelings on the matter.
Now, let’s put our head in the game and focus on the issue at hand. Guy no longer wears his red ring, or so he claims, but now keeps it for when he feels he really needs it. Out on a beach with Tora, aka Ice, he is trying to forget the mini-war he had with Atrocitius. That is easier said than done when he is still a bearer of the red ring of rage. Not only that, but there is the added fact that when he faces off with the New Gods and get’s his tushie handed to him, well, this just puts him in all sorts of bad moods. Batman #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 8, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $4.99)
Endgame | Part 1
Guess who’s back. Why the one and only Mr. J. Oh yeah, he’s back and he’s not pulling any punches here. The last time we saw the Joker was in the Death of the Family story arc but now he has infected the Justice League against the caped crusader. Talk about genius!
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #18 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 22, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $2.99)
The Blood of Grayskull | Part 5
I have been waiting for this for the longest time! About darn time they bring out She-Ra! Since the events of the last issue, tricked by Teela, the new sorceress, Adora took the life of her own brother and only the sword of protection can save him. So Adora ventures alone on swiftwind to face the first betrayer of the house of Grayskull, the monster who stole the sword of protection in the first place. This story arc makes me so happy because it combines everything I love about Star Trek. It combines The Original Series, The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and I freaking love Deep Space Nine and with Q in the series everything is ten times better because Q is, of course, messing with everyone and the universe. The world has become utter madness with peace hanging by a very thin thread. It’s a wonderful story to combine all the stories together. Continue reading Week 44 2014 | Part 2 | Comic Reviews→
Green Lantern: New Guardians #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 15, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $2.99)
Godhead Act I: Part IV | Trust
So Kyle and Carol are finally dating it would seem. I’m not complaining, she’s a strong girl who deserves a guy who is going to be open with her and not have his head up his tushie. But anyway, HIghfather has found Kyle Rayner and the little blue men have revealed that they are much like the former little blue men who used to rule the Green Lantern Corps. Green Lantern Corps #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 8, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $2.99)
Godhead Act 1: Part 3 | Reckoning
This is a very good series thus far. I love that John is not the central focus within this series. I was never a fan of John Stewart before the reboot, especially when he killed Mogo, but ever since the New52, the writers have done a wonderful job building his character and turning him into a very good leader.
And he was able to do what Hal Jordan failed to do, pull one over the New Gods. That’s applaudable to say the least. John thinks about situations which is why he is a strong leader, he doesn’t let his emotions control him and focuses on them in order to think about the situation and make a plan to save his teammates and stay alive. He’s a brilliant leader and Jensen writes it out amazingly.
Now, as far as the story goes, so far so good. The story flows perfectly from where it left off, building the story with the proper momentum and using the issues to introduce more and more characters from New Genesis. It’s a very well told story, written well and drawn out beautifully as well.
Justice League #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 15, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $3.99)
The Amazo Virus | Prologue: The Outbreak
Woah. I have to say, Jessica Cruz, aka Power Ring, makes an interesting addition to the team. She’s a character who has an obvious susceptibility to darkness.
But the true shining stars of this issue is Bruce and Lex as they battle it out in front of the camera’s to announce their corporate partnership. While Lex shines and reveals that he is part of the Justice League in order to do good and showcase that he is different person who wants to do good for the world.
However, the real revelation has to do with what’s within his secret laboratory. His secret-secret laboratory. None other than Lena Luthor, his sister, as well as the Amazo virus. Readers don’t know what the Amazo Virus is but they can speculate that it is going to be a very bad thing. But from all the mystery revolving his sister and that illness she has, both events could be tied together which makes the story very interesting. And then there is the mysterious assassin who has been hired to kill Lex. An easier mystery to talk about then to solve.
Batman & Robin #35 (RELEASE DATE: OCT 15, 2014 | COVER PRICE: $2.99)
Robin Rises: Part 3 | Hellbound
Batman has never looked more frightening. In his new suit formatted by his best friends, he has made it to apokolips in the hopes of regaining his son and the chaos crystal. In the meantime, Batgirl, Red Robin and Red Hood have made the decision that they are not letting him do it alone, leaving Batwoman in Gotham to work the night and keep the streets safe.
